Long bio

I grew up in Massachusetts and my family would vacation on Cape Cod. I realized how much I enjoyed the beach, the ocean creatures and life by the sea. My favorite books and magazines would be about the ocean and its many, many creatures.

I moved to New Hampshire in 1995. I started a small but successful interior/exterior painting business, which I still operate. I have been in business for over 30 years. I still live in the town of Sandown, New Hampshire, thanks to my Creator.

I'm still visited throughout the year by deer, owls, foxes, ducks, hummingbirds, fisher cats, bobcats, turkeys, and mosquitoes. Oh, and sometimes my neighbor's dogs.

Activities include biking, hiking, traveling, taking photos, day trips up the coast and playing bass guitar in my rock bands. My newest interests are writing and trying to cook.

Black Fin cover, an orca's dorsal fin breaking a moonlit ocean surface

Black Fin Book 1

ISBN 978-0-99-702549-1

Early in the evening off the coast of Alaska, Herynn, a female orca and matriarch of her pod, is escorted by two smaller males. The orcas enter a shallow cove deep enough to swim and dive. A few hours pass and Herynn gives birth to her third calf, a newborn she names Okent.

Mother and newborn are only together a few hours before danger approaches. She hides Okent among the kelp and faces off the predators. Panicked and separated, Okent becomes lost in the open ocean.

He's found by a great humpback named Babel, who protects him and eventually adopts him into her pod. Two seasons later, still not fully accepted among the humpbacks, Okent sets out on his own and meets Hue, an albino humpback tangled in fishing nets. Okent frees him, and the two, an orca and a humpback, become travel companions, developing their own way of communicating and surviving the ocean's hardships together. They discover that the greatest threat to sea life isn't below the surface, but above it.
